UNESCO HERITAGE SITES IN INDIA
1) United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization - UNESCO 2) UNESCO World Heritage Convention- Established in 1945 3) India accepted the convention in the year 1977 4) At present, there are 40 World Heritage Sites located in India . 5) Out of these, 32 are cultural, 7 are natural, and 1 is mixed (meeting both cultural and natural criteria) 1- Mixed- Khangchendzonga National Park,Sikkim 7- Natural: Kaeladeo National Park Kaziranga National Park Manas National Park Great Hima layan National Park Western Ghats Nanda Devi and Va lley of flowers National Park Sunderbans 32- Cu ltural- All the others 6) Maharashtra having highest number of sites (5). 7) India has the sixth largest number of sites in the worl
